With his passion for creating delectable frozen treats, Elvio launched Lobo's Ice Cream in 2011 after completing the business planning training program at AnewAmerica, a Bay Area LISC partner and a Kiva Zip trustee.
Elvio crowdfunded a $5,000 Kiva Zip loan to help grow his Bay Area-based business: Lobo's Ice Cream. Lobo's Ice Cream produces frozen treats with natural sweeteners, seasonal ingredients, and unique flavors influenced by Elvio's Mexican and Italian heritage. The Kiva Zip loan helped Elvio to renew his business permits and buy a mobile ice cream cart for pop-up markets and fairs.
With his passion for creating delectable frozen treats, Elvio launched Lobo's Ice Cream in 2011 after completing the business planning training program at AnewAmerica, a Bay Area LISC partner and a Kiva Zip trustee. With continued support from AnewAmerica and his own determination and drive, Elvio’s business experienced exciting growth, helping to generate increased revenues and new jobs. When Lobo's Ice Cream needed capital for a few projects, AnewAmerica endorsed Elvio for a 0% interest Kiva Zip loan based on his character, work ethic, and commitment to his customers and product. More than 100 people crowdfunded Elvio's Kiva Zip loan. LISC Small Business matched these lenders to help ensure that Elvio's loan fully funded.
The success of Elvio’s Kiva Zip campaign illustrates the power of mission-aligned partnerships in supporting small businesses: AnewAmerica and Bay Area LISC have established a powerful collaboration over their shared goals of bridging the economic divide for struggling, low-income communities through transformative family economic development; AnewAmerica is a Kiva Zip trustee to further its mission of supporting immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs by helping them access capital; and LISC Small Business matches loans endorsed by LISC partners on Kiva Zip to help expand financial opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs.
